On Thursday November 16th, the president elect of Brazil, Lula Da Silva, announced at COP 27 that he will establish a ministry for indigenous people in his country. In 1988, Chico Mendes was assassinated for protecting Brazil’s forests. This announcement is regarded as a kind of reparation for Angela Maria Feitosa Mendes, his daughter.  Houmi Ahamed Mikidache met her after Brazilian president elect’s speech.
